Multiplayer mode
This Gears of War 2 feature allows up to ten users to simultaneously play. There are eight distinct multiplayer modes which include the new “Wingman 2 this splits all ten players into five teams of two, where both members of a team play as the same character, “Guardian” is generally a modified version of Assassination but allows players to continue fighting after the leader has been killed, but losing the ability to respawn, “Submission” formerly known as "Meat Flag," is a version of capture the flag, in which players attempt to "down" an enemy controlled by the game's Artificial intelligence and move its body to their team's base to earn points.

Characters
Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago are just some of the returning characters from the first game, Dominic’s wife also makes an appearance and his search for her will play an important part in the game. There are several new characters which include the near dictatorial military leader of COG, Tai Kaliso,” spiritual and meditative warrior from a tradition of honor bound fighters,” another new character is Dizzy a former Stranded who joined the COG to keep his family safe.
The COG tags have been increased to include the collection of story-based items such as personal letters and medical records, a “war journal” will track which collectibles have been found and where you can find missing ones. The cut-scenes will use better facial rendering and more dramatic angles for the conversation, as well as using a video screen on Jack (Dom’s all purpose robot) to talk to the commanders “face to face”.

On-line multiplayer
As like in Halo, there is a skill-based online matchmaking system, powered by trueskill, this groups together players of similar skill level in competitive multiplayer matches.
All the things you enjoyed about multiplayer in the original are back, including the classis death matches, but with Gears of War 2 there is an added emphasis on teamwork. New multiplayer game mode will require better coordination in order to win. You can also communicate with other players from around the world, even if you’re on the same team or not.
